I’m a London-based freelance communications professional with more than 20 years experience in the biomedical and health research field.

Having graduated with an MBioch in Molecular and Cellular Biochemistry (2000), and an MSc in Science Communications (2002), from 2003 I worked in a variety of communications roles at Cancer Research UK, including launching and editing their Cancer News website (formerly the ‘Science Update’ blog). In 2022, I joined Alzheimer’s Research UK as head of communications, before going freelance in 2025.

Drawing on personal experience of the disease, I wrote an acclaimed memoir about cancer, Cross Everything (Bloomsbury, 2021), and joined the BMJ as a part-time patient editor, as well as taking up PPI roles on several trials for cancer and other diseases.

In my spare time I play guitar in the band Dog Unit and obsess over the England men’s cricket team.
